Rachel,

The Department has received the notice of the intent to start the oxidation trial as described in Item 2 of 
Georgia-Pacific LLC’s request dated June 20, 2014 and approved in the Department’s letter dated July 
31, 2014.  This notification fulfills Condition 2 on page 2 of the Department’s July 31st letter.  Please note 
that, as required in the Department’s July 31st letter, Georgia-Pacific LLC must test the effluent from 
Outfall 001 for Dissolved Iron and Total Iron once per week until both trials have been completed.  After 
both trials have been completed, the results of the trials must be submitted to the Department.

We are setting up today and tomorrow for the oxidation trial as outlined in Item 2 of our request 
submitted on June 20, 2014.  We should be ready to begin this trial by Thursday of this week.  Also in 
follow-up on the Ferric Sulfate trial, we actually began feeding chemical yesterday afternoon.

Item 1 of Georgia-Pacific LLC’s request dated June 20, 2014 and approved in the Department’s letter

letter.   Please note that notification must still be provided two business days prior to the start of the 
trial which will use oxidation technology to reduce sulfide emissions.

Loretta,
Please accept this email as notification that on Friday, August 15, we plan to start the trial using Ferric 
Sulfate as outlined in Item 1 of our request submitted on June 20, 2014.  As indicated in the request, the 
maximum dosage will not exceed 30 ppm.  It is expected that this treatment will reduce intermittent 
sublethal toxicity effects, as well as remove excess phosphorus at the end of the aeration 
basin.  Dissolved Iron and Total Iron will be tested weekly at Outfall 001 for the duration of the trials to 
ensure that the dosage is optimized.
